Start with brokers who list the kind of loan you need. Where a broker has told us how they are paid, their profile says so, along with any licence or representative number we hold, so you can check it on ASIC's register.
Speaking to two or three brokers gives you something to compare. You can ask up to three at once, and you do not pay us to send an enquiry.
Every mortgage broker in Australia must hold an Australian Credit Licence or be a credit representative of a licence holder. Ask for the number, then search it on ASIC Connect Professional Registers. Listings on this site show the number when we hold it.
Many brokers are paid a commission by the lender when a loan settles, and some also charge a fee. Where a broker has told us how they are paid, their listing says so. Ask for the broker's Credit Guide, which sets out how they are paid.
Look at whether they handle your situation (for example first home, refinancing, investment or self-employed), which lenders they work with, how they are paid, whether they can meet in a way that suits you, and what other borrowers say about them.
Correct your details and name your brokers. Borrowers can send you enquiries on every plan.
The essentials borrowers need, kept accurate by you.
